Good morning.
It’s 3:20 a.m.
While most of the world is sleeping, I’m sitting here thinking about growth.
I’ve been working my way through the AWAI Copywriting Academy, currently on Level 3. Each level gets deeper. Harder. More detailed. What once felt simple now requires thought, research, discipline, and patience.
At first glance, people think writing is easy.
Just put words on a page.
But if you want those words to move someone…
to help someone…
to guide someone into action…
It takes work.
You have to study your audience.
Understand their fears.
Know what they struggle with.
Learn what they hope for.
Then you study the product — the strengths, the weaknesses, the details no one else sees.
And before you ever write a single sentence, you must step into someone else’s shoes.
You must think like them.
Feel like them.
Care about what they care about.
And as I sat here thinking about all of that, something hit me.
Isn’t that how the Lord works with us?
God Knows the Details
Psalm 139:1–3 says:
“O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.
Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.” (KJV)
God doesn’t skim over your life.
He studies you.
He knows your fears.
Your strengths.
Your weaknesses.
Your hidden thoughts.
Just like good writing requires deep understanding — real spiritual growth requires depth too.
Surface faith feels easy.
But mature faith?
It takes study.
Application.
Correction.
Patience.
Trust.
Deeper Doesn’t Mean You’re Failing
Level 3 feels harder.
But that doesn’t mean I’m failing.
It means I’m growing.
Hebrews 5:14 says:
“But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” (KJV)
Milk is easy.
Meat requires effort.
If your walk with God feels deeper… heavier… more stretching than it used to…
That may not be a setback.
It may be growth.
Trusting Him Through the Process
There are moments when I think, “I still have such a long way to go.”
But that’s true in writing.
And it’s true in faith.
Philippians 1:6 reminds us:
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” (KJV)
God is not surprised by the process.
He’s not frustrated by your learning curve.
He isn’t standing over you disappointed because you’re not “Level 10” yet.
He’s the One who enrolled you in the process.
And He is committed to finishing what He started.
Today’s Lesson
Growth requires depth.
Depth requires effort.
Effort requires trust.
Whether you’re learning a new skill, building something, or walking through a stretching season spiritually — don’t quit just because it feels harder.
Harder often means you’ve graduated from the shallow end.
And that’s a good place to be.
Prayer
Father,
Thank You for the process.
Thank You for the seasons that stretch me, even when they feel uncomfortable. When things get deeper and harder, help me remember that growth often feels this way.
Teach me to trust You in the learning.
Teach me to be patient with myself.
Remind me that You are not rushing me — and I don’t have to rush either.
When I feel behind, anchor me in truth.
When I feel overwhelmed, steady my heart.
When I see how far I still have to go, help me also see how far You’ve already brought me.
Give me diligence in the work.
Give me humility to keep learning.
Give me faith to believe that what You started in me, You will finish.
And as I grow in skill, help me grow in wisdom.
As I grow in knowledge, grow my character.
As I grow in ability, keep my heart aligned with You.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
