Learning to Write From the Heart (and Trust God in the Process)

After a few quiet days of learning, writing, and wrestling with growth, I’m beginning to understand that God often does His deepest work behind the scenes. Here’s what this season…

Soft morning scene with an open journal, coffee cup, and flowers on a wooden table near a window, symbolizing quiet reflection, writing, and peaceful encouragement.

Good morning,

It’s 3:27 in the morning, and I’ve been a little quiet these past few days. I didn’t want to just disappear without sharing what has been happening behind the scenes.

The last five days have been filled with study and writing as I’ve been working through AWAI’s Copywriting Academy. I’m learning to become a certified direct-response copywriter, and honestly, it has stretched me more than I expected. Some moments felt exciting. Some felt overwhelmed. And there were moments I wondered if I was learning anything at all.

But somewhere in the middle of it, God met me.

I realized I was trying too hard to force words onto the page. I thought writing meant pushing until something sounded right. But slowly, I began to understand that real writing isn’t about forcing words — it’s about writing from the heart. Instead of trying to create perfect sentences, I’m learning to create scenes that help people feel something real.

Last night I finished Level One and passed the test with a 95%. I’m thankful for that progress, but the greater lesson wasn’t the score. The lesson was patience.

God is teaching me to slow down, to stay consistent, and to finish what I start. He’s showing me that growth happens quietly, often in ways we don’t notice right away. And in that process, I feel a new kind of freedom — the freedom to stop striving and simply learn.

Maybe you’re in a season like that too. Maybe God has you learning behind the scenes where no one else can see. If so, I want you to know it’s okay to feel what you’re feeling. You’re not alone. I’m walking through my own learning season too — and more importantly, God is with you every step of the way.

My prayer today is that whatever you’re facing, you begin to see purpose in it. Sometimes the quiet seasons are where God does His deepest work.
