In the Middle of My Mess, God Is Still Working

In a season of financial setbacks and personal reflection, I’m learning that even in my mess, God is still working. Through Scripture and prayer, He is teaching me how to…

A sunrise over stacked bricks and a cross with the words “In the Middle of My Mess, God Is Still Working,” symbolizing faith, rebuilding, and spiritual restoration.

Good morning,

It’s 3:43 a.m., and I finally got a decent night’s sleep. It felt good.
Even now, it still feels like I could rest a little more.

Lately, I’ve been spending time in the book of Ezra. This morning, I read about how the house of the Lord was finally completed again. It was commanded by King Cyrus and supported by King Darius, who both played a major role in rebuilding God’s temple.

What stood out to me is this: God took what had been ruined… and rebuilt it.

That stirred something in my heart.

This week, I’ve been thinking about the “ruins” in my own life—especially in my finances. I made some mistakes. I trusted the wrong situation. I allowed myself to be scammed, and as a result, I damaged my credit again and lost my main credit card.

If you haven’t read that post yet, you can find it here: What God Taught Me After I Was Scammed.

It was discouraging. Embarrassing. And honestly, heavy on my heart.

But as I read Ezra, the Lord reminded me:
He is a God who rebuilds.

Just as He instructed His people to restore His house, I’m trusting Him to help me restore what has been broken in my own life. Not just financially—but emotionally, spiritually, and mentally too.

This season is teaching me humility, wisdom, and dependence on God in ways I didn’t expect. I’m learning that rebuilding takes time. It takes obedience. It takes patience. And it takes trusting God even when you wish things had gone differently.

So today, my prayer is simple:

Lord, help me rebuild.
Help me walk in wisdom.
Help me steward what You’ve entrusted to me better.
And help me not lose heart in this process.

Because if God can restore a ruined temple…
He can restore a discouraged heart and a broken financial situation, too.

“So we built the wall… for the people had a mind to work.” — Nehemiah 4:6 (KJV)

I’m choosing to keep showing up.
Keep learning.
Keep trusting.
And keep believing that God is still writing my story.

One rebuilt brick at a time.
